Learn about bird behavior, migration, ecology, conservation, and many other subjects—in your own home, at your own pace! This fun course was written at an introductory college level and includes all basic ornithology topics. It is suitable, however, for anyone with an inquiring mind and a serious interest in birds.

The course requires the Handbook of Bird Biology, 2nd edition, which unfortunately is out of print. If you don’t already have a copy, you might be able to borrow one from a library, friend, or nature center, or find a used one online or in a used book store. Once you have a Handbook you should sign up for the course, below.

You will need access to a copy of the Handbook of Bird Biology, Second Edition to take the course. Unfortunately, the book is currently out of print. Due to continuing demand, we still offer the Home Study Course in Bird Biology to those who are able to find the second edition, either online as a used book or from local libraries. A new revised and updated edition of the Handbook is due out in mid-2016 along with a new online course.
